A Summer Full of Curiosity at Chicago Light’s Day Program

Last Thursday was the Summer Showcase of our partnered 6-week program with Chicago Light’s Summer Day Program. This year the program theme is “CurioCity” aligning with our mission to ignite passionate curiosity with progressive programs for our future innovators. The summer day program is a safe learning environment for 100 students grades one through nine to engage in academic activities over the summer. These activities range from trips to museums in Chicago, outdoor recreation, and more enrichment classes.

Throughout the summer there were fun, themed days such as Super Hero Day, Pajama Day, and a Carnival Day.

The showcase included live performances where students created and performed songs about what curiosity means to them. In addition, there were artwork displays throughout the summer such as drawings and curiosity pendants where jewelry was created on transformed pieces to be reinvented into art pieces.
